37 Years
A Houston native, born in 1965, Ski spent his childhood in Houston, Anderson, and Madisonville. He graduated from St. Thomas High School in 1983, and then from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1988 (BSFS) and 1992 (MSFS). He worked as a Wildlife Biologist for Florida GFC, Texas Parks & Wildlife, and US Forest Service. Ski was a respected biologist who loved the outdoors. He was also a devoted mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. As a devoted husband, son, and friend, he had a heart of gold that can never be replaced. We will deeply miss him forever.
At 37 years old, Ski was hit and killed in Silsbee by a negligent repeat offender who drove into his lane, hitting him head-on. The defendant had several prior offenses and was serving probation for a drug felony. He has since been convicted for the drug felony, but justice has not been served for Ski's death. More than five years after an indictment, the defendant has not been brought to trial. The county district attorney will not take or return my calls.
