Our son, brother, father and friend. God blessed us to have you with us for 28 wonderful years. I am still wondering, WHY?", some cowards took your life, and your body laid in your apartment for 20 hours before you were found. I often wonder how long did you suffer, going in and out of consciousness before you died, while those cowards were going in and out stripping the apartment. That's why I know someone had to see something. It's been 6 years since you were taken from us. It's so unfair. All we can share is our pain, our tears and our precious memories of you. To this day, no one has been charged with your murder, and the police have run out of leads. But, I will not give up until justice is served. If I have to offer a larger reward, put up more flyers, or contact America's Most Wanted, City Under Siege or Unsolved Mysteries again until someone listens to me and air my case. I will do this, I won't give up. I never will until we get Equal Justice.I really miss you. Things are really different without you. Times are really hard and slow. For the rest of my life I am going to be thinking about you. For time came when you had to go. I really miss you my buddy, my son, my friend. I promise my love for you will never end. In your finest hour I was there with you, (your birth, first day of school, your graduation and prom) and without you things aren't the same. But, there is a higher Power that we all must answer to and you heard Him calling your name. I really do miss your smiling face. But, I know you have gone to a magical place, singing a brand new song.
You also have a namesake that you won't have a chance to meet, or for him to see how special you were. His name is Devin Sherrod Emil Smith. He is only 2 years old, and he is a lot like you. He's always smiling and wanting to give "Big Hugs". In my heart and soul, I can feel that you have already met him.
