It's bad enough drunk drivers are killing themselves, but they are also taking others along with them. My sister, Melanie Chrisner McMahon, is a victim of a drunk driving fatality. She, along with her husband, Reginald Allen McMahon, were sent to an early grave on April 30th, 2000, at 6:50am.

Melanie was such an outgoing person, who had really seem to find the true meaning of life in her last months of life. She understood the importance of family, as she was the mother of 3 boys, and step mother of 1 girl. Her children, and her husband, were the core of her life. She wanted nothing more then to be happy and for this happiness to carry over into her childrens lives.

The last time I saw Melanie was on Easter Sunday, April 23rd,2000. Exactly one week before her death. She surprised our family this Easter Sunday by giving me, our older sister Tammy Wallace, and Melanies twin sister, Michelle Rene Chrisner, early Christmas gifts. She had accquired through an online auction a toy that we used to fight over as children. Each of us were given this toy, and little did we know at the time, she was also giving us a gift to remember her by.

I will never forget my sister, or her husband, as these two young, vibrant souls had a way of touching other's lives. Our family continues to move forward with life, but their memory remains, not only in our own minds, but on the faces of their four children, who will really never know just how wonderful their parents were; and who will never really know why they were taken away on April 30th, 2000.
