Daniel and Frances Keller ran Fran's Day Care in Austin, Texas. In August of 1991 a 3 1/2 year child accused Daniel and Frances of sexually abusing her. After a doctor examination the couple were arrested and subsequently indicted by a Travis County grand jury. They had made arrangements to turn themselves in to police but fled to Las Vegas, where they changed their appearances in attempts to hide from police. However their escape was short lived when the police were able to track them down.
During their trial the children described ritual acts: being terrorized in a graveyard, seeing animals killed, being buried alive with animals, painting pictures with bones dipped in blood, being stuck with needles and drugged, and seeing bodies dug up and mutilated with a chainsaw. A child led an investigator to a graveyard where they found animal bones.
Children spoke of being forced to close their eyes while the Kellers took a meat cleaver and pretended to chop off their fingers and toes. One child peeked and saw Dan Keller pull a bone from a bag and smear it with blood from a jar and realized the perpetrator had tried to fool him.
They spoke of seeing the Kellers place infants in the backyard swimming pool and letting them sink. Frances Keller would then remove the baby from the bottom of the pool, baptize it with blood, and offer it to Satan. The Kellers reportedly killed a baby named Rachel by cutting her heart out. The heart was placed in a child's hand who described it going "thump, thump, thump until it stopped." The body was put in the swimming pool, and its skin and eyeballs buried in a hole.
One boy said a gun was held to his head while he was forced to molest his infant sister. When the pornographic movie was replayed for him, the gun was not visible and he realized he'd been tricked. At least three children developed an "eerie habit of behaving like cats. In sudden realistic transformations, parents say, the children would crawl, meow, hiss and demand food from bowls." One parent stated her daughter told her they were taken to an actual jail cell, and she was put in there with a kitten, and then it crawled through the bars and the perpetrators stomped on the cat, cut it up, and told them if they told, that's what would happen to them. They would show the children their parent's payment in check and would say, "See? Your mommy pays us to do this to you." Texas Ranger Johnny Waldrip said he believed the kids wholeheartedly, and thought they were subjected to ritualistic acts so they would be discredited. A therapist and expert witness testified about the reality of ritual abuse for the jury.
Another mother said, "I put my son in a mental hospital as a result of this abuse (by the Kellers), and it's only been through over a year of intensive psychotherapy that he's begun to partially heal."
On Nov. 11, 1992 Daniel Keller was convicted of Aggravated Sexual Assault of Child and sentenced to 48 years. Daniel for is currently up for Parole review and has yet to express any remorse for his actions. Justice demands that he be made to serve his entire sentence in prison. In addition, to lessen the emotional trauma the parole review process has on the victim's family, please ask for the maximum set-off for any future parole reviews.

Please DO NOT grant parole to Daniel Keller. As a concerned citizen, I am writing to protest the projected parole. On August 1, 1991 Keller sexually assaulted a 3 1/2 child left in his care at day care center owned and operated by he and his wife (Frances). He is a pedophile and a child predator. He repeatedly sexually and physically abused young children at his wife's day care for over 6 months. His victims were little girls and boys ages 3 months to 5 years old. The abuse described by the older children is of the most heinous nature.
To let this child predator free is to undo all the work of the jury and disregard their 48-year sentence. His victims have the right to grow up and live in their community without this pedophile stalking them and other children. We must do everything we can to keep all our children from this child abuser.
Daniel Keller served less than half of his 48-year sentence and has not expressed any remorse for his actions, justice demands that he be made to serve his entire sentence in prison. The violent nature of his crimes and young age of his victims should preclude this prisoner any consideration. In addition, to lessen the trauma for the victim, please consider the maximum set-off before future parole reviews.
