Protest Against Parole
Please send letters, emails, or faxes protesting the parole of Thomas Watkins

Background
On August 19,2003 Michele Watkins was taking her daughter to school around 7:15 a.m. Michele noticed that her ex-husband, Thomas Watkins, was following behind her. She attempted to make it to the Sheriff's Department but Thomas managed to cut her off in front of the Robertson County courthouse. When she attempted to go around him, he side-swiped her vehicle, but she was able to get away. She made it about 100 feet to the Sheriff's Department. Thomas had Michele pinned between her vehicle and his. While this was happening, Michele's 12 year-old daughter jumped out of her vehicle and ran into the Sheriff's Department for help. Thomas jumped on the hood of his truck and was yelling profanities before being run off by a concerned citizen.

Thomas had been very abusive throughout their marriage. Michele managed to get out but he wanted me to come back. He was out to get her for telling him no. Thomas was convicted of aggravated assault and received a 25 year sentence. Michele lives in fear for herself and her family. There is great concern that if Thomas is released, he will come back and finish what he started.

Please help by writing a parole protest letter to keep this violent offender in prison where he belongs.

RE: Thomas Watkins, TDCJ-ID #01238460

Dear Parole Board Members:

Please DO NOT grant parole to Thomas Watkins, TDCJ-ID # 01238460.  Watkins was convicted in Robertson County of the August 19,2003, Aggravated Assault of his ex-wife and received a 25 year sentence.  The future safety and well-being of his victim depends on Watkin's continued incarceration.  Justice demands that Watkins be made to serve his full sentence.

The parole review process is emotionally traumatizing for the victims as they are made to re-live their victimization.  In addition, they become fearful for their safety and the safety of their loved ones, should their offender be released.  Please help to lessen the emotional trauma in this case by giving Watkins a 3 to 5 year set-off between parole reviews.

Respectfully,

(Your Name)
